Alice’s EDDL 5141 Winter 2024 Portfolio
Hey there! I'm Alice, a passionate emergency nurse who is currently pursuing a master's degree to deepen my knowledge of nursing. My journey in healthcare started during my undergrad days when in-person training was the norm. However, with the shift towards online training facilitated by institutions like TRU, I have embraced the digital landscape for work and education. This has opened up new learning opportunities and allowed me to adapt and thrive in the ever-evolving healthcare landscape. I am committed to continuously enhancing my skills and knowledge to provide the best possible care in emergency nursing. I believe in merging the wisdom gained from traditional in-person training with the efficiency and innovation of online education to stay ahead of the curve. Through this, I aim to significantly impact the healthcare industry and provide top-notch care to my patients.

Welcome to my EDLL portfolio for Thompson Rivers University. This is where my course work, reflections, and “aha” moments live , sprinkled with a few late-night edits and chai tea lattes. I’m currently working on my Master of Education in distance learning and a graduate degree in Technology Education, all while teaching full-time in BC and raising my son. Juggling? Yes. Dropping balls? Occasionally. At least my mom thinks I’m funny while my son loves to call me cringy, which I’ve decided must be a compliment. This portfolio is more than a set of assignments; it’s a snapshot of how my professional studies and personal passions overlap. Alongside research on inclusive education, resource allocation, and online learning design, you’ll see traces of the things that keep me inspired: theatre, where I learned to embrace voice and story; animals, who ground me with perspective; STEAM projects, which spark curiosity and creativity; and music, which has always been my outlet and my way of connecting. The aim of this portfolio isn’t perfection (that’s overrated anyway), but growth, curiosity, and a record of how I’m weaving together teaching, graduate studies, and life. You’ll find a mix of serious academic reflection, practical resources, and, yes, a little humour, because learning should make us think deeply, but it should also make us smile.

Private: EDDL 5101 ON3 – Educational Technology for Learning (Fall 2021 Webster)
This online, applied course is designed to provide educators with knowledge, skills and experience in implementing educational technology into a pedagogically sound learning environment. Education Technology in the Curriculum is intended to be a general launching point for your own exploration and learning about information technology (IT). Because the world of IT is complex, and especially so in education, it is challenging to design a course of study that is right for all students. You, and every other student, bring with you a unique set of experiences and interests that enhance your learning and determine your individual learning needs.
